About Department

SNPIT & RC is committed to the development of top class technical manpower which can help the Indian Industry in attaining excellence and also earning a reputation of being a dependable source of technical knowledge and expertise abroad. The department of Computer Science & Engineering will see that the students from the department are adapting themselves to ever changing concepts and innovations with the belief that technology makes it possible to gain control over every aspects of human life today.     
The Department of Information Technology, an integral part of SNPIT & RC aims at bringing out the technical and inherent talents of the young and budding Engineers. The Department was established in the academic year 2021-2022 which offers a four year B.E degree program with an intake of 60 students. The department is also recognized as an Authorised Oracle Academic Partner by Oracle, India.    
Computer Science & Engineering is a highly-paid profession involved with cutting-edge technology development. With a vision to create the engineers as technical intellects, the department is continuously making efforts to bridge industry and academia.
     

Message from Head of Department

Head of DepartmentThe Department of Information Technology under the S N PATEL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & RESEARCH CENTRE is one of the core departments of the GTU and was established in 2022 to initially offer Bachelor of Engineering degree in Information Technology. Keeping in view the dynamic nature of growth in the industry and the increasing demand for IT professionals, we have adopted methodology that bridges the gap between the theoretical and practical concepts of Computer Science while maintaining the roots with the core. We strive hard and leave no stone unturned in achieving maximum placements by giving our students a strong foundation not only in problem solving techniques but also inculcate meta and soft skills so that they possess analytical ability to learn any language or concept and are committed to work in a team with all the passion.
I take a great pride to appreciate the zealous efforts of the faculty and students that leads us towards the collaboration with various industries and institutes across the world, in turn developing the projects for a good cause of the society. Our passion towards the research is a seed that highlights our good number of research publications also.
If I see the panorama view of the department, it feels so proud to mention that our students, the young and the experienced faculty members, continue to make department one of the best departments in GTU in terms of results, innovative projects and many more. With the untiring efforts of our faculty members, we endeavor to provide top most results in all over Gujarat.

Programme Specific Objectives (PSOs)

  1. Analyse the problems, mine the data, apply theory of computation to develop software based systems with thorough knowledge of current web technology tools in line with artificial intelligence, internet of things and cyber security threats.
  2. Employ model computer languages, attain thorough knowledge of ever-changing networking and database technology to create innovative solutions with modern operating systems and compilers.
  3. Impute analytical, mathematical, design and management abilities with effective communication skills to meet technocrats desire.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and computational IT solution for complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify the requirements, formulate and analyse the computational IT solution of complex engineering problems using principles of mathematics, computer engineering fundamentals and sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design computer systems that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for security, anywhere accessibility to information, socio economic and environment consideration.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design and analysis of algorithm, mining and interpretation of data and synthesising of information to provide valid conclusions. 
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply digitalization using modern digital platform and considering contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of IT solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the computer engineering practice.
  9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, requirement gathering, writing effective specification, design documentation, make effective presentation and provide prototypes, and receive clear instructions for maintenance.
  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles with business etiquette and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in workshops, seminars and training in the broadest context of technological change.
